Home organizing maintenance and refresh visits in Dallas-Fort Worth

A maintenance visit that resets the systems you already have, before the drift turns back into a project.

What is a home organizing maintenance visit?

Every system drifts. Seasons change, children grow, somebody buys a new appliance, and three months later the pantry has quietly stopped matching the labels on it.

A Home Refresh is the visit that resets what you already have before the drift turns back into a project. It is a fraction of the hours of the original job, because the thinking is already done and the containment is already there.

We re-edit what has accumulated, put the strays back where they belong, adjust the zones that no longer fit how you are living, and take the donations away. Most refreshes are a half day.

The team that maintains your existing organization

Refreshes are usually one or two organizers, and where possible the same people who built the original system. That continuity is the point: someone who knows why a zone was drawn where it was can tell the difference between drift and a system that no longer suits you. Everyone is insured and briefed on your house before they arrive.

What a home organization refresh visit involves

We start where the drift is worst rather than working through the whole house.

What has accumulated since the last visit gets edited, strays go back to their homes, and anything repeatedly put in the wrong place gets its zone reconsidered, because the third time something lands in the wrong spot the system is wrong rather than the person. Seasonal rotation happens here too: off-season clothing swapped, holiday storage in or out, children's clothes moved up a size and the outgrown ones removed. Labels get corrected where the contents have changed. Donations leave with us the same day.

What's included

What a maintenance visit covers, from the re-edit through to the adjustments that make the system fit the stage you are in now.

  • Reset of existing zones and containment
  • Seasonal rotation for closets, garages, and holiday storage
  • Re-edit of the categories that have grown since last time
  • Replacement labels and product top-ups as needed
  • Adjustments for what has changed: new baby, new job, kids in new sizes

When it's time to book a refresh

A refresh resets something that already works. These are the signs you have drift rather than a new project.

  • The system held for a while and then quietly stopped holding
  • Seasons or sizes have changed and the zones no longer match what is in them
  • The labels are still there and nobody is following them any more
  • One or two spots failed and took the rest of the room down with them
  • You want it reset before guests, a holiday, or the start of a school year

Two or three a year suits most households, usually at the season changes and once after the holidays. If it has been more than a year, book a project rather than a refresh.

How a home refresh project runs

Three steps, the same every time, whether it is one closet or a whole house.

A refresh runs shorter than a first project and in a different order. We start where the drift is worst rather than working room by room, because the point is to catch the systems that are failing rather than to touch everything.

Most households book two or three a year, usually at the seasonal changes and once after the holidays. If it has been longer than a year, it is generally a fresh project rather than a refresh, and we will tell you that before you book.

Ashley and Jayley did an amazing job of sorting through and organizing my closet, bathroom shelves and storage under the bathroom sink. We filled 2 trash bags! Now it's so easy to find everything, and it has made my morning routine a pleasure! I will definitely ask them to come back to help with other areas of the house. :)

Questions about this service

How often do people book a refresh?

Most clients land somewhere between twice a year and quarterly. Households with young kids tend to want it seasonally, because the clothing sizes alone force a reset.

Do I have to be a past client?

No. If you have systems you like that have stopped working, we're happy to reset them even if someone else built them.

Is a refresh cheaper than a full project?

It's usually far fewer hours, since we're resetting rather than building from scratch. Same hourly rate, much smaller scope.

How much does a project cost?

Our rate starts at $160 per hour and it is published on the pricing page rather than quoted privately. You get a written hour range after the walkthrough, before anything is booked. Organizing products are billed separately at cost.

Do I need to be there the whole time?

No. We need you for decisions on anything personal or sentimental, and reachable by text for judgment calls. Most clients are there for the first hour and the walkthrough at the end, and working or out for the rest of it.

What should I do before you arrive?

Nothing. Do not clean, do not pre-sort, and do not buy bins. Seeing how the space actually works on an ordinary day is the only way to build a system that holds, and a tidied room hides the problem we were called about.

Do you take the donations away?

Yes, the same day, loaded into our vehicles with a receipt back to you. Anything worth selling is set aside separately so you can decide. Bags waiting in a garage for a trip that never happens is how a room refills.

How far in advance should we book?

A couple of weeks for a single space. Four to six weeks for a move, and longer through the summer, which is peak season across Dallas-Fort Worth. If you have a closing date, call with it even if nothing is packed.
